On May 8th all of our Crichfield Elementary School students, teachers, staff, and administrators will be participating in an event called “Laps for Learning.”

This event is a fundraiser for our PTA.  Our monetary goal is to have each student ask five adults to sponsor him or her for $5.00.  This is our “Strive for 5 Challenge”.  If we meet this goal, our PTA fund can grow significantly.

Students are being challenged to set a personal LAP GOAL as well because promoting physical fitness is just as important!  Student’s school spirit blooms as they take pride knowing that they are helping their school!

100% of the donations go directly to the Crichfield PTA to help fund assemblies, field trips, and many other programs for your students.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Get Fit Get Active
The Healthcare Foundation of LaPorte has created the Get Active, Get Fit! program for families in LaPorte. In order to increase participation, they have created the Get Active, Get Fit! School Challenge. This is a challenge among our elementary schools that will result in one school winning $500 to purchase a set of items from Moving-Minds.com, which may include wobble chairs, stability balls, etc.
1) The challenge will take place Apr. 19th-May 19th.
2) Each student will receive an activity log that they can complete at home, at school, or a combination of both.
3) Students are required to do 14 days of 30 minutes of activity to complete the card.
4) Cards get turned into the office when they are complete or may be dropped off at any of the drop locations listed on the card. (Parents can do it online, as well!)
5) Students can complete more than one card!
6) The goal is to get as many students as possible to complete a card within the challenge window.
7) The winning school will be calculated as a percentage of enrollment.
8) All cards completed during the window will be included in a drawing on July 7th at the Downtown LaPorte's Summer Movie Night. The child that is drawn will receive a choice of several great prizes that also encourage activity. (Ex: bicycle, skates, etc.)

UrgentPrint this articleParking - Please Read

Dear Families,

Please refrain from parking alongside Country Club Drive and Kowal Drive when picking up students at dismissal. This recent practice has caused a great deal of frustration with residents as it has created an unsafe environment for homeowners and secondary students that are being dismissed from buses.

I realize that the newly adopted parking lot procedures have not expedited a faster pick up time. However, it has secured the safety of students. The safety of students is our priority and I appreciate your attention to this matter.

Welcome Back Crichfield Families!

The safety of our students is a top priority for both parents and staff members alike. In order to secure a safer arrival and dismissal process, there have been some changes to our parking lot.

  • All cars will now enter and exit via Johnson Rd. for arrival and dismissal times.
  • All buses will now enter and exit via Country Club Dr. for arrival and dismissal times.
  • A gate and chain posts have been installed to ensure separation of car and bus traffic.

We encourage you to have your student(s) ride the bus to and from school each day, as our parking is very limited on space.

If you choose to drop your student(s) off at school in the morning, you may do so via the Johnson Rd. entrance and drop your student curbside at the Gymnasium entrance on the west side of the building. Students may be dropped off beginning at 8:15 if they are eating breakfast at school. Students that are not joining us for breakfast, may be dropped off beginning at 8:25. Students will not be let into the building until this time, as supervision will be provided, beginning at 8:25. The first bell rings at 8:35.

If you choose to pick your student(s) up at dismissal time, please plan for additional time, as this process has changed. Drivers will now enter via the Johnson Rd. entrance only and follow the arrows around the parking lot, to form a pick-up line curbside at the Gymnasium entrance on the west side of the building . The pick-up line is a single row of cars, to ensure students safely enter their car from the sidewalk. Drivers will remain with their cars and student(s) will load curbside. Once students have loaded, cars may leave the curbside line to the left and exit via Johnson Rd. As cars pull away, the line will continue to move forward. Please do not motion for your student from the parking lot or rear of the line, as we will ask students to remain on the sidewalk until their car is curbside in the line. Please note that this process will take longer, however students will be safely waiting for your arrival on the sidewalk and all cars will be safely traveling in the same direction, without bus interference.

The staff appreciates your understanding and patience as we work through this new system. We are confident this new process will make the parking lot a much safer place for both students and drivers!

slow guy

When dropping off and picking up students, please be aware that children are present. It is critical that cars entering and exiting the parking lot drive slowly and cautiously. Pedestrians and busses have the right-of way to ensure student safety.
