Parking Lot Changes!!!
Welcome Back Crichfield Families!
The safety of our students is a top priority for both parents and staff members alike. In order to secure a safer arrival and dismissal process, there have been some changes to our parking lot.
- All cars will now enter and exit via Johnson Rd. for arrival and dismissal times.
- All buses will now enter and exit via Country Club Dr. for arrival and dismissal times.
- A gate and chain posts have been installed to ensure separation of car and bus traffic.
We encourage you to have your student(s) ride the bus to and from school each day, as our parking is very limited on space.
If you choose to drop your student(s) off at school in the morning, you may do so via the Johnson Rd. entrance and drop your student curbside at the Gymnasium entrance on the west side of the building. Students may be dropped off beginning at 8:15 if they are eating breakfast at school. Students that are not joining us for breakfast, may be dropped off beginning at 8:25. Students will not be let into the building until this time, as supervision will be provided, beginning at 8:25. The first bell rings at 8:35.
If you choose to pick your student(s) up at dismissal time, please plan for additional time, as this process has changed. Drivers will now enter via the Johnson Rd. entrance only and follow the arrows around the parking lot, to form a pick-up line curbside at the Gymnasium entrance on the west side of the building . The pick-up line is a single row of cars, to ensure students safely enter their car from the sidewalk. Drivers will remain with their cars and student(s) will load curbside. Once students have loaded, cars may leave the curbside line to the left and exit via Johnson Rd. As cars pull away, the line will continue to move forward. Please do not motion for your student from the parking lot or rear of the line, as we will ask students to remain on the sidewalk until their car is curbside in the line. Please note that this process will take longer, however students will be safely waiting for your arrival on the sidewalk and all cars will be safely traveling in the same direction, without bus interference.
The staff appreciates your understanding and patience as we work through this new system. We are confident this new process will make the parking lot a much safer place for both students and drivers!
Volunteer Background Check
Any person wanting to volunteer, eat lunch, help with class parties, etc., must have a background check form on file. Turn in completed (both sides) form to the Crichfield office.
The background check form is good for one school year. If you have students in multiple schools, you will need to complete one for each school.

New Student Registration
All NEW students (if not already enrolled) will need to bring the following information at time of registration:
- Student Enrollment Form (see link below)
- Student's Birth Certificate
- Student's updated Immunization Record
- Proof of Residency (NIPSCO bill, land-line phone bill, cable or dish bill; Residency Affidavit available at school, must be Notarized. Notary Public available in office)

HELP US KEEP STUDENTS SAFE
When dropping off and picking up students, please be aware that children are present. It is critical that cars entering and exiting the parking lot drive slowly and cautiously. Pedestrians and busses have the right-of way to ensure student safety.
All students are assigned a bus from school.
If your student will not be riding the bus, you MUST contact the school to let us know your student's dismissal plan. If we do not have this information, your student will be put on the bus. Make sure your student has a Transportation Form on file.

Eat Breakfast at School
Mornings can be really crazy – the alarm doesn’t go off – the kids don’t want to get up – there’s no time to eat breakfast before the bus comes – or they’re just not ready to eat. Or maybe your teenager grabs a can of soda and a candy bar on the way to school. If this sounds like your house, we have good news for you.
Breakfast is served at school! School breakfast will give your child a healthy start to the day. A nutritious breakfast helps students be more alert so they can learn more in class. Breakfast has vitamins and nutrients for a strong and healthy body.
Breakfast at school is affordable, too. If you qualify for free and reduced priced meals, you also qualify for the breakfast program, with no additional paperwork. You can’t find a healthy breakfast at such a low cost anywhere else.

ON-LINE BOOK RENTAL PAYMENT

Parents may pay book rental fees online through Parent Access. Log in to your child’s account and select the Fee tab for an easy and convenient way to pay.
You've Got VOICE Mail
We receive several calls during the day from parents who ask "did you just call me?". Please check your voicemail before calling the school. Most often it is your child wanting something or to ask you a question. If anyone from the office calls you, they will leave a message. Thank you for your compliance.
Classroom Treats Policy
The Wellness Committee met on April 27, 2011, and formulated a policy addressing treats for classroom celebrations. The policy simply states:
“For the safety of all children, all treats furnished for students, including birthday treats, must be commercially purchased. These treats should be kept simple and in a form that is easy to pass out to students in the class.”
ARRIVAL / DISMISSAL CHANGES
For the safety of our students, no arrival or dismissal changes will be allowed unless the office has received direct contact from the parent or guardian. 2:30 p.m. is the latest we will accept changes. Thank you for your cooperation.
