Slicer eLearning - FAQ's

  • How do students log into a school issued Chromebook?:  Students are issued a username and password upon entering the school corporation.  The typical username and password scheme is the student’s first name, middle initial and last name.  Example johnasmith and the password is their student ID number.
  • How do students log in to google from home on a home device?:  All students have access on any device by going to google.com and clicking the sign in button in the upper right corner.  When signing in, they will need to use their full google username which is username@lpcsc.k12.in.us and their student ID password. When prompted for the option to SYNC, Click Do NOT Sync or NO.  Remember when completed to sign out by clicking the name on the top right of the browser and click manage. Then click remove
  • How do students in Grades K-4 access their assignments?:If a student is on a school owned chromebook, launch chrome and in the upper right corner you will find the google apps launcher icon , click this and choose google classroom.

If you are using a home device, you will need to enter the student’s username once clicking on the google classroom icon (username@lpcsc.k12.in.us) and password (student ID #)
  • How do students in Grades 5-12 access their assignments?:  Grades 6-12 use the Canvas LMS by going to https://lpcsc.instructure.com and logging in with their normal computer username (example johnasmith) and password.
  • How is attendance taken?:  Attendance is taken by completion and submission of eLearning Day assignments. Assignments are due on the 3rd school day after the eLearning day by 8AM
  • What do you do if you don’t have WiFi?: With the release of the assignments prior to the eLearning day, we ask parents to try to find open WiFi hotspots like local libraries and other locations around town.  If this is not an option, students will be allowed to stay after school for an hour and a half on the two days following an eLearning day in a location designated by the building to work on eLearning day materials.  Students may not work on eLearning assignments during the normal school days following an eLearning day as this is seen as double dipping by the DOE.
  • What devices are compatible with the eLearning day?:

    • PC - Windows 7 and Higher. We recommend always using the latest version of the chrome browser
    • MAC - OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later with Chrome browser
    • Chromebook
    • Android Tablet - running Android 4.4 KitKat OS or higher. Must support latest version of Chrome
    • iPad - iPad Air and higher. Must support latest version of Chrome
*Note: For both Android tablet and iPad - we recommend downloading the following apps: Google Classroom (grades K-4), Canvas (grades 5-12), google drive, google sheets, google docs, google slides and the iReady app. For specific assignments like drag and drop google slides, some mobile style browsers do not support this feature without using the app.
