Mr. William Power

As a child I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with my Grandparents traveling during the summer.  I took particular notice to the beauty of the western U.S. and fell in love with the red rock country of southern eastern Utah.  One of my grandfathers actually had a gold mine in Colorado and that's my passion for geology started clicking.  My love for nature and the outdoors was enhanced and flourished during my scouting years as well.  As a teenager I built an observatory on the top of our garage and have been observing the Heavens ever since.  In 1970 I took an Earth Science at Mishawaka High School and loved it. It was then and then that I realized that I wanted to make a living in the Earth Sciences.  I took my first college course in Earth Science in 1971 and the rest was history.  I graduated with a B.S. In Earth Science in 1975 and earned a M.A. in Education in 1981.  I've spent 40 years at LPHS and have enjoyed it here very much.
