Community Volunteer dates will be scheduled on a monthly basis.
Volunteer Background Check
Any person wanting to volunteer, eat lunch, help with class parties, etc., must have a background check form on file. Turn in completed (both sides) form to the Crichfield office.
The background check form is good for one school year. If you have students in multiple schools, you will need to complete one for each school.
Thank you for helping ensure the safety of students, staff and families of the La Porte Community School Corporation.
Online Book Rental Payment
Parents may now pay book rental fees online through Skyward Family Access. Please click on the link below for step-by-step instructions.
2018-2019 School Year
Kindergarten - $133.00
All students are assigned a bus from school.
If your student will not be riding the bus, you MUST contact the school by 2:30 that day to let us know your student's dismissal plan. If we do not have this information, your student will follow their plan on the transportation form. No exceptions. Make sure your student has a Transportation Form on file.
WELLNESS & HEALTHY EATING AT SCHOOL
Please read the attached brochure from our Food Service department. Many changes are taking place that will affect the types of foods brought in to our building.
Eating Lunch with your student(s): NO fast food or pop/soda. A note or phone call to the school must be received by 9 a.m. in order to eat with your child. If you are purchasing a hot lunch, you may NOT pay for it with your child's lunch account.
Birthday Celebrations: Please refer to the Healthy Foods List. Only foods listed on the Healthy Foods List will be allowed in the building. No exceptions.
5th Grade Athletics
Any 5th grade student wanting to participate in Track, Basketball or Ring Toss must have the following documents on file:
- IHSAA Physical File (link provided below)
- Athletic Handbook Page 5 (download PDF)
- Concussion Acknowledgement Page 6 (download PDF)
You've Got VOICE Mail
We receive several calls during the day from parents who ask "did you just call me?". Please check your voicemail before calling the school. Most often it is your child wanting something or to ask you a question. If anyone from the office calls you, they will leave a message. Thank you for your compliance.
Parking - Please Read
Please refrain from parking alongside Country Club Drive and Kowal Drive when picking up students at dismissal. This recent practice has caused a great deal of frustration with residents as it has created an unsafe environment for homeowners and secondary students that are being dismissed from buses.
I realize that the newly adopted parking lot procedures have not expedited a faster pick up time. However, it has secured the safety of students. The safety of students is our priority and I appreciate your attention to this matter.
Mrs. Donna Biggs, Principal

Parents: Please take a moment to log on to your Skyward account and make sure the information (phone numbers, emergency contacts, address, etc.) are correct. It is very important we have current information on all our students in case of an emergency.
Little Learner's Preschool
Little Learner’s Preschool is located at the La Porte High School and serves students with disabilities such as a Developmental Delay and/or Speech and Language Impairment. If you have or know of a student that is 3-5 years of age and you suspect that he/she may have a delay in the area(s) of motor, concepts, language, self-help, or social skills, please contact Jean at the preschool office (324-3287) to submit a request for an evaluation. If the child qualifies to receive extra support with any of the above mentioned areas, he/she would have the opportunity to attend the preschool program 3-5 days a week. Programming is free and bus transportation is provided.
