2022 - 2023 Update

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, school corporations across the country operated with the use of a federal waiver funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that allowed districts to feed every child for free. It was announced that the use of this waiver has NOT been extended for the 2022 – 23 school year.  Beginning August 17, 2022, all districts will return to the traditional format for school meals and they will no longer be free for every student.  This means that families interested in applying for meal or textbook assistance for the upcoming school year will need to complete the Free/Reduced Meal Application, which is available at each school building, as well as digitally on the school webpages.

Below are the lunch prices for Elementary, and Intermediate/Middle schools, as well as the prices for breakfast and lunch at the High School. As we strive to keep your child’s account at a positive balance and adhere to our corporation charge policy, we encourage you to check your student’s account balance, set up low balance alert or add funds to your student’s meal account with no fees charged to you, on the Titan Family website.

Healthy Changes in our School Cafeterias

Dear LaPorte Community School Corporation Families:

This fall, LaPorte Community school cafeterias are meeting tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy and well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Now is a great time to encourage your kids to choose school lunch!!

School meals offer students milk, fruits and vegetables, proteins and grains, and they must meet strict limits on saturated fat and portion size. Starting in School Year 2014-2015, school lunches will meet additional standards requiring:

- Age-appropriate calorie limit
- Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving of produce)
- A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes
- Fat free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat free
- More whole grains
- Less sodium

We’re always working to offer LaPorte Community school students healthier and tastier choices. School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families too! Payments for school meals may be made in three ways – check, cash, or online deposits. The online system will allow you to make secure online payments into your child’s breakfast/lunch account, view all of your child’s purchase history and account balances. Follow this Food Service Link to create an account. Deposits will post to your students account the same day.  If you have any question please call us at 219-362-8823.

Due to ongoing effects of the COVID Pandemic, several food vendors are suffering from labor shortages which has caused disruptions in the food chain. Schools are currently experiencing food order shortages resulting in weekly changes to the menus. We will make every effort to substitute the scheduled menu item with another that is as similar as possible. Also, we will notify schools of the menu changes a few days prior so that you are aware of the substitution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenge!
