Martin Briggs: 2025 Elementary Teacher of the Year

Mr. Briggs, who has dedicated 47 years to educating La Porte students, exemplifies excellence in teaching through his innovative approach to education and commitment to student engagement at Crichfield Elementary School.

A recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in 2014, Mr. Briggs is known for his hands-on, cross-curricular projects, such as the egg drop experiment conducted with the Center Township Fire Department. His international impact includes training teachers in Belize on conceptual math understanding.

Former students, some from more than a decade ago, continue to credit him with inspiring their educational and career paths, including one who became a principal within the corporation.

Christine Rosenbaum: 2025 Secondary Teacher of the Year

Ms. Rosenbaum has dedicated 24 years to serving LPCSC students, pioneering mental health services within the district while maintaining her commitment to engaging, purpose-driven education.

In 2015, she transitioned from her role as an English teacher to become LPCSC's first dedicated Mental Health Counselor. This position has since expanded into a comprehensive mental health initiative that includes four social workers and district-wide participation in the Indiana Project AWARE grant.

As the district's Suicide Prevention Coordinator and founder of the Bring Change to Mind Clubs at La Porte High School and Middle School, Ms. Rosenbaum tirelessly works to increase awareness of mental health and break its stigma. Her previous recognitions include the Healthy Communities Health Ambassador of the Year (2019) and the Indiana Suicide Prevention Educator Award (2018).

Jenny Hartson: 2025 Employee of the Year

Ms. Hartson at the front desk of La Porte High School is the first face to greet everyone who visits. She was selected for her exceptional dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students and staff. As a graduate of LPHS herself, she has been with the corporation for two years and exemplifies the Slicer spirit in her daily interactions.

Known for being "a smiling face, an ear to listen, and a support" to the entire school community, her philosophy that "nothing is possible without an attitude of gratitude" guides her approach to creating a positive school environment.
