LaPorte Performing Arts will be starting auditions for their upcoming fall play, You Can’t Take It With You, August 31 going through September 1.
According to the site Concord Theatricals, the iconic, award-winning play follows an eccentric family whose simple, carefree lifestyle clashes with—and ultimately transforms—their wealthy, status-obsessed future in-law. This play is known to be wildly hilarious, as well as a highly renowned classic that anybody and everybody could enjoy, and La Porte High School is excited to start auditioning for it.
Once the cast is set, rehearsals for the show will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Extra dates will be added closer to the show dates.
The show will run November 13 through the 15, with Friday and Saturday starting at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday being a matinee, starting at 2 p.m.
Co-directors and LPHS teachers Sallie and Timothy Hanson are excited to be putting on this show and love the message it delivers.
“It's a very heartwarming play. It shows how people can have differences but still come together in the end; these days, it's a good message to have,” Hanson said.
The Hansons are hoping for a successful show and a full audience for opening weekend.
“People should come see it because we have fantastic students. We need an audience, and the actors really come alive when they come in,” Hanson said.
