Riley PTA Spirit Wear Sale

The Riley Elementary PTA is having our Spirit Wear sale during our Open House on Tuesday, August 14th from 4:30-6:00.  Please bring cash or a credit card to order.  Personal checks will not be accepted, but cashier's checks may be made out to ID Plus.  Samples will be available to view.  The items will be delivered to the school on or around September 7th.  Please spread the word to all of our Riley families!

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

We have our new student registration on Thursday, July 26th from 7:30-4:00.  Please bring the following: birth certificate, proof of residence, and shot records.

The new student registration is ONLY for those students that did not attend Riley last year.  If your child attended here last year and progressed to the next grade you do not need to attend.

Gold Star Counseling Award!

Riley is pleased to announce that we have earned the Indiana Gold Star School Counseling Award!  We spent the last year progressing through the Redesigning School Counseling Award/Guiding All Kids process to improve the academic, social, and emotional experience of our students.  We are very excited to bring these innovative practices into our building to help maximize our students' potential.  We would like to give special recognition to our counselor, Robyn McShane, for her time and effort to make this venture successful.  We would like to recognize the efforts of our Guiding All Kids committee.

Free & Reduced Meals

The deadline for free and reduced meal applications is Monday, September 25th.  You can apply online at www.lpcsc.k12.in.us>Departments>Food Service>Free and reduced meals.

2017-18 Volunteer Background Checks

If you are interested in volunteering or eating luch with your child at Riley again for the 2017-18 school year, you will need to complete a volunteer background form in its entirety. Please return the completed form to the Riley office.  Unless you hear otherwise, you will be approved to serve as a volunteer for the current school year.  Thank you for your involvement in our school.

Click on the link to download the physical form.  Incoming kindergarten students and any 5th grade student wanting to participate in a sport needs to have a physical on file in the health office.

New Safety Protocol

 

ATTENTION RILEY VISITORS

Our security protocol was put in place several years ago and continues to be the policy of LaPorte Community Schools.  When visiting Riley, ALL visitors will need to check in at the main office. 

1. You must have a current background check on file in office to be able to visit the classroom or eat lunch with your child. 2. A Visitor’s Badge will be issued to you. This badge must be visible at ALL times. 3. Upon leaving the building, return your visitor badge to the office.

We understand this will be more time consuming, however, the safety and security of our students, staff and visitors is our top priority. Thank you for your support of Riley Elementary School and all the schools of the La Porte Community School Corporation.

 

Student Deliveries

Students are not allowed to receive flower, balloon, etc. deliveries at school because they can disrupt classroom instruction. They also cannot be sent home on the bus. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Student Dismissal Procedures

We will be dismissing all walkers and parent pick up students at 3:07 pm.  All children riding buses will be dismissed at 3:10 pm.  Traffic has always been heavy at dismissal from school. If you are picking up your child, please park in two straight lines in front of the building leaving an aisle in the center for through traffic. There is no parking in front of the timbers by the tree on the east end of the drive or at the front entrance. If you leave your car to get your child, the best pick-up method is to park your car in a space in the back lot and walk to the northeast entrance of the building to get your child. You can exit that parking lot onto Glenwood Street. If your child can ride the bus, please consider using it at dismissal to cut down on the traffic in front of Riley.  If a student is not picked up by 3:20 he/she will be sent to Child Care and the parent will be responsible for paying the cost of childcare.  Thank you for your cooperation with this policy.
